The new Audi A8 will be making its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. But, Audi decides to reveal their flagship model before it makes it to the big stage for the public debut. A8 is the most high-tech and advanced vehicle offered by Audi. Audi A8 will be competing with the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series for its market share. The new Audi A8 is actually longer than the outgoing model by 37mm, there is also an increase in wheelbase as well. But, the outgoing car was slightly wider by a very narrow margin. These changes are applicable to both the standard as well as the Log wheel-base model.

New Audi A8 is actually based on the same MLB platform that underpins the SQ7. So in future expect a hybrid version of Audi A8 won’t be quite far-fetched. The company claims that the new A8 is developed specially for highly automated driving. Audi is calling their automated driving system as Traffic jam Pilot system. The car is self-drivable up to the speed of 31mph. The Traffic jam Pilot system relies on the ultrasonic sensor, cameras, radar and laser scanner.  Also, this is the first production car to employ a laser scanner.

On the outside, the styling features seem to be influenced by Audi prologue car. With reshaped grille and the new tail light among the few features. Though this segment car is heavily dominated by diesel engines, there might be a hybrid engine in store for them. There are series of engine option that is offered in the new Audi A8. Leading the charge is the 6.0-litre W12 engine producing 540bhp and 800Nm. There is also a 3.0-litre V6 engine produces 443bhp and 700Nm of torque. It is also expected that the 3.0-litre V6 will also be paired with an electric motor. The price for the new Audi A8 will start from £70,000.
