The first exclusive EV showroom opened in the UK in central Milton Keynes. The showroom is actually a part of Milton Keynes Go Ultra City programme. The City has a total budget of £9 million. The showroom ambitious aim is to motivate the locals to take up EV’s and hybrid cars. The Showroom is actually operated by Chargemaster, but they are not selling the car directly. They describe the salesperson as EV gurus, rather than closing the deal they prioritise educating people about EV’s. Educating the potential customers about the advantages and disadvantages and their vision. EVs and hybrid offering from companies like Volkswagen, Kia, BMW, Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. All these companies have ventured with Chargemaster.

The showroom will have up to 10 cars at their disposal for the test drives. There is also a contract for the serious prospects that allows them to test car for a whole week.  This is an essential step as most of the people are not sure whether EV’s can make it in their daily routine. There is also a programme to help people understand EV by AA (founding partner of Milton Keynes). Chargemaster boss David Martell plans to publish EV sales comparison. He believes that EV sales can reach up to 25% against the national average (UK) of 7%.

AS of right now there is only 2% of total UK automobile market share. In the UK a total of 2.2 million cars is sold annually. Though the EV car numbers are not that much significant they are increasing at an exponential rate. Just five years ago there are just 5,000 cars while as of right now 100,000 EV’s and hybrid on road. Experts believe that by 2020 there will be about 150,000 vehicles on road in the UK.
