THE NEWLY INDEPENDENT DS brand is set to launch two SUVs as it bids to become a global company in the next five years.

The DS6 SUV is currently available only in China and other Asian markets. It is likely to be used to boost sales in emerging markets before being replaced by an all-new vehicle.

The Citroën sub-brand plans to expand from three model lines to six by 2020, and SUVs will be at the heart of that strategy, according to DS boss Yves Bonnefont.

“The SUV segment is attractive,” he said. “It is clear that the new model lines have been selected based on potential for sales growth. By 2020 I hope we can have new models that give us a convergence of model lines for our global strategy.”
DS is also expected to investigate large and small saloons, as well as reworking the existing DS3 and DS5.
